Vision for Learning

The core business of our learning community is focused on progressing and maximising students' learning.  We believe that learning is the active social construction of meaning and that every person can achieve success in learning.

Our Vision for Learning is guided by 'Excellence in learning within a contemporary Christian community'.  Our Vision is centered on research and evidence based practices and as a professional learning community our Vision was created and reflects our values and beliefs about learning and learners.

The Vision for Learning caters for 21st century contemporary learning contexts; it develops the skills and knowledge needed to be confident and successful learners who are empowered to shape and enrich our changing world by living the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Emmaus College Vision for Learning helps to create a dynamic learning environment where learning is active and engaging through learning that is Inquiring, Creating and Reflecting, so that learners are Persistent, Interactive and Hope-filled.

Curriculum and learning at Emmaus is developed using the Australian Curriculum.  It is ongoing, data informed and teachers work in professional learning teams to consistently monitor and track students' learning.  Curriculum planning takes place within the beliefs and values of our Vision and Mission statements, our Vision for Learning and seeks to achieve the Goals for Education outlined in the Alice Springs (Mparntwe) Education Declaration (December 2019).  The declaration has two distinct but interconnected goals:

Goal 1:

The Australian Education System promotes excellence and equity.

Goal 2:

All young Australians become: confident and creative individuals, successful life-long learners, active and informed members of the community.
