Cattle Show Team 2023

The year 2023 marked an extraordinary milestone for the Emmaus Cattle Show Team, standing as the most significant and successful year to date. Once again, we had the privilege of caring for Droughtmaster cattle generously loaned to us by Phil and Sue Gutzke of Lake Moogerah Droughtmasters. Impact, Iceman, Innocence, Impression, Illusion, Idaho, Hattie, and Havana became cherished members of the Emmaus family for a span of six months.

Our Show Team embarked on an eventful journey, participating in six shows throughout the year, including the eagerly anticipated Emmaus College Cattle Show held in August. This year, we welcomed a vibrant Greenhorn Team, eager to absorb the intricacies of cattle showing, while our senior team showcased their prowess at the Boonah Show, Gatton Show, Mudgeeraba Show, Beaudesert Show, and, for the very first time, made a historic appearance at the Royal Queensland Show (The Ekka)!

Boonah Show was a great first show for this year's team. With a tight turnaround to prepare cattle we took 4 of our best to compete. They handled amazingly well and competed in some very tough classes. Highlight of the show was Lake Moogerah Idaho winning Champion Junior Droughtmaster Heifer and Champion Heifer in the battle of the sexes competition. We also took home the trophy in the Exhibitors group class. Highlights of the show for our students were just as amazing. Baileigh A and Taj C placed 1st and 2nd in the Young Judges (15 to 25 years) competition. Jack M and Jake T had a crack at the Young Auctioneer's competition and came 2nd and 3rd respectfully.

Our second show for the season was held at the very end of Term 2. It was the Mudgeeraba Show. Cattle entry numbers were light, but the experienced judge was very complementary of our cattle and our students. The main highlights of the show go to Imogen L and Vienna L who won the Young Handlers and Young Judges events and qualified themselves for the state final at the Ekka.
