Prayer is turning our hearts and mind to God, so as to be open to his call in our lives. There are a variety of prayer experiences that students will have the opportunity to participate in; praying with and for their classmates and teachers, seeking God in stillness through meditation, and trying other forms of prayer such as lectio of nature and praying through music.

Students also have the opportunity to learn about forms of prayer that are traditional to the different Christian traditions that form our college, such as prayers like the Hail Mary and the Creeds.
Our Father
The Our Father is a very important prayer for the college community. As the prayer given to us by Jesus (Matthew 6: 9-13, Luke 11: 2-4) it is a prayer used by each of the faith traditions that participate in the life of college. As agreed between the school and the pastors we use the modern English translation of the prayer:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us in the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
Amen
This prayer is very important to us at Emmaus as it is another point of unity on which we can build; each of the faith traditions recognises this prayer and acknowledges it as a model of prayer handed to us by Jesus.
The Emmaus Prayer
In consultation with staff and students, the Emmaus Prayer has been written to reflect our ecumenical community and our journey with Christ. This prayer will become part of key liturgies and prayer in our classrooms.
